The act itself is the goal, and the results—sometimes surprising, sometimes a failure—are part of the process. This work is a chance to explore the edges of my mind and test the possibilities of what I can create. Seeing how cinematography and photography can inform each other is interesting to me, and I’m dedicated to spending time in these creative edges. Ultimately, I want to change the way people see, by changing the way I do.

This work presents new challenges and unexpected outcomes as Derek uses cinematography to craft art pieces, inspiring a range of ideas and directions. The pieces are coming to fruition at Transport Art Gallery, where he collaborates with like-minded creatives to explore the poetic possibilities of the moving image.

See the work.
